PURPOSE:
To plan and conduct a wide range of independent and objective risk-based audits in order to provide the Audit Committee and management assurance on the effectiveness of internal controls, efficiency of management practices, and compliance with Port of Seattle (Port) Policy.

We are seeking a motivated and collaborative individual to join our highly respected and valued Internal Audit Team. Through our internal audits, this individual will partner with management to make positive changes that brings value to a diverse and dynamic organization. We support and encourage professional development and growth, including exposure to Audit Committee discussions, visibility to senior and executive level management, and continuing professional education.

Primary responsibilities include:•Conducting a diverse range of risk-based audits including; operational, internal controls, accountability, compliance (federal, state, local and third party management agreement), and lease and concession.
• Leading entrance and exit meetings and communicating audit findings to key stakeholders.
• Using data analytics and other techniques to assess risk and develop audit objectives.
• Developing methodologies to assess the design and operating effectiveness of internal controls.
• Planning and develop effective/efficient audit programs to achieve audit objectives.
• Develop value-audit findings and facilitate, with management, the development of corrective action plans.
• Prepare well written audit reports, which clearly communicate the audit results to be shared with the Audit Committee and available to the public.
• Coach and educate Port personnel in internal controls, accountability and compliance.
• Train, mentor, and share ideas with team members.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:•Knowledge of the general concepts: GAAS, GAGAS (Yellow Book), Professional Standards of the IIA (Red Book), GASB, GAAFR, FASB, COSO Framework.
• Knowledge of laws and regulations applicable to local municipal corporations in the state of Washington.
• Skilled at thinking critically and objectively with a sense of urgency to meet deadlines.
• Ability to be trusted with confidential information and documents.
• Ability to portray Port’s ethical values: Integrity, Honesty, Accountability, Respect, and Fairness

Position Qualification:

QUALIFICATIONS: Combination of education and experience demonstrating knowledge, skills and abilities including: • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field; • Seven (7) years of progressive experience in internal auditing and/or accounting; and • Certified Public Accountant or Certified Internal Auditor PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: •Masters of Business Administration or Masters of Public Administration; and/or • Certified Construction Auditor Work Environment Will work in an office environment at Pier 69 on the Seattle waterfront. Some travel will be required to various Port of Seattle office locations throughout King County. Additional Details WEEKLY STANDARD HOURS: Normal work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (40 hours per week). DRIVER’S LICENSE REQUIREMENT: A valid Washington State Driver’s License, or the ability to obtain one, is required.
